Profile: Bo Coffman, BD Director

Bo joined our team to lead our business development efforts. He collaborates with clients, partners, and project teams, facilitating connections between people and ideas as projects develop. He enjoys bringing the right people together for a project, whether it’s in the planning or construction phase.

Bo describes himself as a “professional dot connector.” He looks across the whole project. This includes owners, engineers, contractors, and installers. He focuses on how decisions are made and how work flows among them. He takes a broader view of the process. Where are decisions shaped? Where do projects slow down? How can things operate with greater efficiency? These are the questions that shape his work.

“I have so much respect for all the people who work here at Reliable Sprinkler, and it’s exciting to be part of a mission that has so much to do with saving lives through fire safety.”

Building Relationships Across the Industry

At Reliable, Bo works to build and strengthen relationships in the fire protection industry and related markets. He works closely with customers and partners. He aims to understand their needs, priorities, and challenges. He researches key markets for our business and assists with strategic growth planning. This includes fast-changing facility types like data centers, modern warehouses, logistics facilities, and advanced manufacturing. This also covers sectors like semiconductors and pharmaceuticals. Bo supports sales, marketing, and technical teams. He brings field insights into the organization. He also connects internal teams to industry conversations and new opportunities.

A key part of his role is staying connected to projects in their earliest stages. In many of the markets we serve, stakeholders make important decisions long before construction begins. Bo builds relationships and engages in early discussions. This way, Reliable stays involved as project goals, design approaches, and specifications develop.

Bo’s initial focus is on North American markets, where growth is accelerating, and projects are getting more complex. Success in these situations depends on strong teamwork and clear communication among all stakeholders. His skill in building relationships connects people across organizations. This helps support the process.

A Career Built on Technical Industries

Bo brings experience from a range of technical and industrial sectors. Before joining Reliable, he worked for many years at Gast Manufacturing, a part of IDEX. There, he focused on compressed air and vacuum systems for manufacturing. He worked with many industries, which helped him understand how technical systems support larger operational goals.

His career then progressed further into fire protection and life safety. He built strong relationships with customers, partners, and industry experts. This included early ties with Reliable. He later worked in cleanroom and controlled environment technologies for advanced manufacturing. This brought him closer to building design and construction. He built a relationship-driven approach in these roles. This approach emphasized how people, organizations, and ideas come together to move projects forward.

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, he owns a house in Southwest Michigan with his wife. They have two adult daughters, both of whom are now married. He enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing, and cooking. During the COVID pandemic, he began making pasta from scratch, a hobby that has stayed with him ever since. He still makes it the traditional way, mixing, kneading, rolling, and cutting everything by hand.

Joining Reliable’s Mission

Bo joined Reliable with a long-standing respect for the company and its mission. He worked with Reliable early in his career. So, he knows how important fire protection is for keeping people and property safe. That experience made the decision to join an easy one.

As Bo shared, “I have so much respect for all the people who work here at Reliable Sprinkler, and it’s exciting to be part of a mission that has so much to do with saving lives through fire safety.”

We’re glad to have him here and look forward to the relationships, ideas, and opportunities he continues to help create across the industry. For someone who calls himself a “professional dot connector,” this role is a perfect match!
